Situated in the heart of the South Wales Valleys, on the outskirts of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Victoria Scout Campsite is a beautiful small campsite ideally suitable for small group camps and back to basics activities. Its proximity to the National Park and local walking routes make it an ideal campsite for expeditions too.

Facilities

Camping field and hammocking area

Our camping field is perfect for pitching your tents or using for games and activities.

We also have a small wooded area that can be used for hammocks.

Campfire and barbecue square

We have a dedicated campfire square for traditional campfires or backwoods cooking. 

The campfire square also has brick barbecues available for use.

Toilet block and day room

We have a new toilet block with plumbed toilets and sinks for washing. The block also comes with a separate day room suitable for a small number of people or for additional storage.

Lighting, sockets and water heaters can be powered by a generator (not supplied)

Outdoor kitchen

The site is equipped with a sheltered outdoor kitchen complete with work counters, dedicated spaces for cooking stoves, storage shelves and sinks

The site has mains drinking water.

Getting to us

The campsite is only a 10 minute walk from the nearest train station, Ebbw Vale Parkway. There are hourly trains from Cardiff operated by Transport for Wales.

Ebbw Vale is easily accessible from the M4 and A465 Heads of the Valleys road. When following the satnav to the site post code, please continue to the end of the road.

There is space for parking up to 4 large vehicles on the campsite, additional vehicles can be parked on Hall Street. Please be courteous to our neighbours, do not block access to their businesses. 

Things to see and do

Walking

There are over 300 km of public rights of way in Blaenau Gwent for you to explore, the has excellent access to the Ebbw Valley Walk and Sirhowy Valley Walk long-distance trails.

The Brecon Beacons National Park is only a short drive away with access to numerous trails from gentle walks along the canals to mountainous wild country routes.

Cycling and mountain biking

There are several local cycle routes and good connections to the National Cycle Network.

As well as local trails, Cwmcarn Forest Drive and Bike Park Wales offer dedicated mountain biking trails

Geocaching
You can mix-up your traditional walks or cycling by doing some geocaching, our Explorer Scout Unit has hidden a few caches to be found on routes local to the campsite.
Nature and wildlife

Our local area is home to beautiful nature and scenery. Ebbw Vale has two nature reserves, Central Valley and Silent Valley

Nearby is also the Ebbw Vale Owl Sanctuary and Parc Bryn Bach.

Heritage

The area is rich in history and heritage to be explored. Within walking distance you can find the Ebbw Vale Works Museum

Further afield, a short journey away you can access the World Heritage Site of Blaenavon including Blaenavon Ironworks and Big Pit National Coal Museum.

Attractions
The local train station is only 5 minutes walk away, allowing you to explore more of South Wales. Cardiff is less than an hour away on the train and has hundreds of attractions to visit.

All prices are per person per night/day. Evening hire is available between 17:00 and 21:00 weekdays (excl. Thursdays).

Booking

Please complete this form to enquire about bookings. The campsite team will contact you to confirm whether there is availability for the dates you wish to visit, or to let you know of alternative dates in the case of limited availability. Once accepted, we’ll send you a confirmation email.

A deposit of 20% will be required within 3 weeks of confirmation. Please read our terms and conditions before booking.

We aim to respond to your enquiry within 7 days. 

    Terms and Conditions

    • We only accept bookings from Scouts and Guides, youth groups or other organisations, clubs or associations with similar values to The Scouts. We do not take bookings from the general public.
    • We will hold a provisional booking for 3 weeks from the date of enquiry.
    • If a deposit has not been received within this 3-week period, we may cancel your booking without notice.
    • A deposit is a non-returnable booking fee that is deducted from your final balance. In the event of cancellation by the customer, it is non-returnable. By paying a deposit you are accepting the terms and conditions as laid out here.
    • In the event of cancellation, the following charges apply:
      • Up to 7 days before event – loss of deposit.
      • Less than 7 days before event or non-arrival – 100% of total cost.
    • Cancellation must be made by e-mailing Victoria Scout Campsite with the date of delivery being deemed the date of notification. The percentages listed above relate to the total cost of the booking.
    • Should your final bill be less than the deposit paid, the deposit will be forfeited, and no refunds issued.
    • Charges and prices are subject to change. Prices are normally only reviewed and changed annually.
    • We reserve the right to cancel, alter or delay any visit, where forced to do so by circumstances beyond our control, such as illness, weather, or any situation that we believe would put visitors or campsite volunteers in danger. This may be done with little or no notice.
    • No digging is permitted in any of the fields.
    • Please ensure that no litter or equipment is left behind after you depart.
    • Fires are not allowed except in the campfire square. Barbecues may be used on the patio areas. 
    • Please dispose of cold ash in the correct area.
    • Firewood is available from the woodpile. Please use it conservatively and return any unused wood to the woodpile.
    • The felling of live wood or cutting turf is not permitted
    • Buildings should be left in the same condition they were on arrival. All buildings are inspected after your departure. If the building is left in such a way that requires additional cleaning a charge may be added to your booking.
    • We reserve the right to charge groups for any damage to buildings or for any damaged or missing equipment. The cost of this will be the cost of a replacement.
    •  Please report any damages or faults as soon as possible to the campsite team
    • Users are responsible for undertaking their own risk assessments for use of the site and any activities they are running onsite.
    •  Please report all accidents or near misses to the campsite team as soon as possible. 
    • No smoking is permitted on the site
    • No dogs are permitted, except guide/assistance dogs
    • There is no rubbish disposal onsite. All rubbish must be removed by the user, any waste left behind will incur additional costs. 
    • We reserve the right to charge groups for any damage to the site or damage/loss of activity equipment. The cost of this will be the cost of a replacement or repair.
    • Vehicles are not allowed on the camping field. Vehicles may be parked on the gravel/tarmac drives, additional parking is available on the adjacent street but please be courteous to the neighbouring businesses.
    • Please be considerate to our neighbours by keeping noise to a minimum late at night/early hours of the morning.
