Gareth has a long history with the Scouts, Gareth joined Scouts as a Cub and moved through all youth sections until age 18, when he then became a leader. He took a break from Scouting due to other commitments and returned to Scouting in 2017.

Elizabeth O’Malley, Gwent Area Lead Volunteer, says: “Gareth has successfully held many roles over his 20 plus years in Scouting. We are sure that Blaenau Gwent will continue to grow and develop under his leadership.”

Gareth says:” I look forward to working with you and making Blaenau Gwent stronger now and after transformation. I hope to get to meet you all as soon as I can.”

The District Lead Volunteer manages and supports the Scout District to ensure it runs effectively and that Scouting within the District develops in accordance with the rules and policies of The Scout Association so that the District provides good quality Scouting for young people and proactively supports and manages adults in the District.

Gareth will lead District Team Leaders and Group Lead Volunteers across Blaenau Gwent’s five Scout Groups.
